Dunes

One would not expect anything like this is in Southern California among all those green fields and farms. But leaving Glamis on SR 78 going South suddenly these dunes open up. They are the North Algodones Dunes. They have areas for Dune buggy riding with motorhome parking and a place where one can rent buggies or cycles.

Desert View Watch Tower

Waited here since five o'clock in the morning for the sun to rise behind the famous Grand Canyon Watch Tower. We saw some huge elks grazing along the walkway. One really large male with three females. They were not shy at all, which is no wonder as they all were big and strong. Then suddenly the sun sent her first rays into the canyon, and a large bird flew by enjoying the updraft. What an exciting moment. Down below flows the magic Colorado River.
