Good Morning to You!

Early in the morning I was roaming through the bushes to find a good spot for a photo, when there was suddenly a cow in my picture. We looked at each other and then she went back to eat the dry grass.

Light and Shadow

Late Afternoon in May. It was a perfect day, sunny but not hot. The storm from the day before had settled, just leaving a few dark clouds on the horizon and nice shadows on the monuments.

Can you imagine . . . ?

Driving through the Western States and Monument Valley, it is hard to imagine how anybody could survive the hardships traveling in a stage coach through this harsh and rugged county-side. Just considering the lack of water and the heat or cold in the desert creates a big question mark in my mind. How was it possible?

Stagecoach

Still trying to imagine how these beautiful ladies in her long dresses got into these kind of coaches. It's hard to get in with jeans and boots. This is at Goulding's Lodge, Oljato Monument Valley in Utah.

Moment of Relaxation

On the desert floor in Monument Valley a very strong sand storm was shaking our RV threatening to peel off the paint or the awning. After looking for a quiet cove to sit out the storm, this is what we found.

Misty Morning

Hazy Morning

Every morning is different inside the Monument Valley. This one was very quiet with hazy sunlight. Can't see the monuments in the distance. But there are interesting shadows on the huge brown rocks which become really red in the evening sun.

Desert Plants at Monument Valley

This was just before sunrise, the monuments in the distance were still covered with morning haze and it looked like the beginning of another hot day. The desert plants were dry and could definitely use some rain. Hopefully soon they will get relief.

Mexican Hat in Utah.

Just when we arrived at the Mexican Hat, looking for a place to park without messing up the scenery for others, those 3 RVs passed us and drove right into my picture. That was so funny, I had to capture that moment.

En route to "Mexican Hat" in Utah

En route to Mexican Hat in Utah on Hwy 162 one can see the mountain range leading to the "Valley of the Gods" in the distance. There was a strong sandstorm which is seen in the haze on the mountains. Far in the back is a road, that might be our road?

Twin Rock Trading Post

In Bluff, which is a little village in Utah, at the cross roads of Hwy 191 and 163 there are these fantastic Twin Rocks towering over the Trading Post. This is way out there in the desert on the way to Mexican Hat.

High Noon in Bluff

The village of Bluff is on the cross roads of Hwy 162 and 191 in Utah. We arrived at noon. No person was to be seen, just a cute little cat was resting under the big tree in the garden of the old Cow Canyon Trading post. It seemed the truck from Littleton in Colorado had worked hard for the Quarter Horse Farm until right here it gave up and now it still stood there with flat tires and amused the visitors that come by to take a break in the new Trading Post under the Twin Rocks across the street.
